TIPS & TRICKS

Okay, so yeah,
this is a bit like our FAQs page, but let's be
realistic... we know that some of you are not even going
to take the time to read the manual, so how can we expect
you to peruse the FAQs page (which is just bursting with great
info)? We can't, and we know it, so we decided that
since there are some points that you really DO need to
know regarding your products, we'd put them right here for
you in a neat, precise, bulleted list. We will certainly
be making additions to this page from time to time, so if
you're in the market for a PHP product or are the new
owner of a PHP product, check back here often for more
bits of wisdom!
Oh, and feel free to read that manual the first chance you
get.

Phoenix™ CHIP, FU™ CHIP, and FU2™ CHIP
|
- We use TS 6-position chips with our own custom tuning.
- When installing your chip, the keys should be in your
pocket, in the house, in the backseat -- ANYWHERE but in the ignition.
- We will not put a 140hp calibration on a truck with PMRs.
- We do normally not offer a "Decel" or "Exhaust Brake" tune.
You can find out why here:
Do you offer a "Decel" or "Exhaust Brake" calibration?
- We do no recommend a High-Idle calibration over
1,200 RPM. If a driver should accidentally
shift into DRIVE while in High-Idle, there would
be a slight chance he would not be able to stop the truck
without doing damage to himself, his truck, a pedestrian,
or other property.
- If you are considering an "Anti-Theft" calibration, we
recommend putting it in Position 6 on your chip.
- The FU Chip is only for stock trucks or trucks with mild
modifications; the FU2 Chip is designed for trucks with
heavy modifications.
- The Phoenix Flash (FU) software is not designed to work
on an Apple computer.

MINOTAUR™ SOFTWARE
|
- When installing your chip, the keys should be in your pocket,
in the house, in the backseat -- ANYWHERE but in the
ignition.
- Minotaur is not designed to work on an Apple computer.

6.0L FICM REPROGRAMMING
|
- You can find out where your FICM is located by looking here:
Where is my FICM located?
- Early Diablo Predators modify the FICM, so we don't
recommend using our FICM tuning in conjunction with that
programmer. We also do not recommend using our FICM tuning
with a BullyDog programmer.

GRYPHON™ PROGRAMMER
|
- To download custom tunes, download and install the
Pegasus Update Client from our support page.
With the programmer connected, click on [UPDATES] and then
click on [Custom File Download].
- Clicking on GRYPHON UPDATE MANAGER will load "canned"
tunes onto your programmer.
- If you have purchased a used Gryphon, please DO NOT try
to program your truck with its custom tunes. Unless your
truck has the exact same HEX code (there are currently
733 just for the '04-'08 F-150s!) and modifications, the
custom tunes won't work. Download and install the
Pegasus Update Client from our support page.
With the programmer connected, click on [UPDATES] and then
click on [GRYPHON UPDATE MANAGER] to download the canned tunes.
If you would like custom tunes for your truck, please contact us.
- Please be aware that the Gryphon's one-year warranty
DOES NOT CONVEY when resold.
- If your programmer suddenly stops working, check the
fuse which also powers the cigarette lighter.

Upgrading your Edge Evolution to a Gryphon
|
- DO NOT FORGET to program
your truck back to stock before sending us your
Evolution to be upgraded!
- By putting custom tunes on your programmer, you are
VOIDING YOUR CARB EO.
- When you send your programmer to us, we usually only need
the programmer itself. However, if your truck is a 1997-2003
F-150 or 7.3L PSD, we will also need the OBDII cable.
