UPGRADES and USED PROGRAMMERS

Upgrade your Current Edge Programmer to a Gryphon for Custom Tuning

Not Legal for Sale or Use in California on Pollution-Controlled Motor Vehicles
 

If you purchased your programmer from us, custom tunes are $30 each; if you purchased your programmer from another vendor or used from a third party, custom tunes are $60 each.
 

WE WILL NOT  CUSTOM TUNE the OLD "GAMEBOY" STYLE EVOLUTION, the
1997-2003 F-150 EVOLUTION, or the 7.3L PSD EVOLUTION; WE APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY CAUSE OUR CUSTOMERS.  ANY OF THESE PROGRAMMERS RECEIVED IN OUR OFFICE WILL BE RETURNED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE.

 

If you currently own an Edge Evolution, Evolution CS, or Evolution CTS and have modifications on your truck such as a cold air intake, true dual exhaust, injectors, or Big Oil (dual HPOP), you will need custom tunes to maximize their performance and correct any potential driveability issues.  The Edge Evolution is CARB certified and cannot be custom tuned.  However, we are pleased to be able to offer a cost effective solution for Evolution owners!

Power Hungry Performance is the ONLY company who offers the Gryphon, Gryphon CS, and Gryphon CTS -- our private labeled version of the Edge Evolution programmers, which CAN be custom tuned.  For those customers who already own an Edge Evo, CS, or CTS, we can upgrade your programmer to a Gryphon at minimal to no cost (custom tunes are additional).

UPGRADING YOUR EVOLUTION TO A GRYPHON

You DO NOT need to send your Evo to us to be upgraded.  If your truck is a 2004-2008 F-150, you'll need to fill out an order form to Order Calibrations for a 2004-2008 F-150 Evolution Programmer.  All upgrades are handled online using our Pegasus software, which can be downloaded from our SUPPORT page.

If you purchased a used Evolution programmer or wish to purchase additional custom calibrations for your Evo that was already upgraded, please use the form called Order Calibrations for a 2004-2008 USED GRYPHON or EVO ALREADY UPGRADED BY PHP.

 
UPGRADING YOUR EVOLUTION CS / EVOLUTION CTS to a GRYPHON CS / GRYPHON CTS

You do NOT need to send your Evo CS or Evo CTS to us to be upgraded.  If you own an Evo CS or Evo CTS, you'll need to fill out an order form for Gasoline, 7.3L, 6.0L , or 6.4L Calibrations to be delivered via Edge's Fusion Software.  When your custom tunes are completed, you will be able to download them directly to your programmer.

If you currently own a Gryphon with custom tunes and purchase a CS or CTS from PHP, we will load your custom tunes onto your new programmer at no charge.

 
CUSTOM DIESEL CALIBRATIONS

We are pleased to offer custom tunes to meet your driving needs.  In addition, for those of who like to tweak your vehicles, we are also able to provide custom tuning for modified vehicles, including Cold Air Intake Kits, Exhaust Systems, Modified Injectors, High Pressure Oil Systems, Turbochargers, and others.

Some other companies offer "Codes" calibrations for an additional fee. These calibrations prevent the SES light from illuminating. There are certain DTCs that are perfectly acceptable to eliminate such as P0478 (high exhaust pressure) and P0238 (high boost pressure). However, if your truck is setting a DTC such as P1211 (ICP out of range) under hard acceleration, this is frequently a sign of an inadequate or failing high pressure oil system and should be addressed. We strongly advise against disabling this type of DTC, as it relates directly to the performance and longevity of your truck's engine.

All of our calibrations are written using tuning parameters which should keep your truck from setting DTCs under normal operating conditions. We believe this should be included your custom calibrations, so we do not charge our customers for this feature.
 
'94 to '97 Power Stroke trucks are fitted with smaller volume injectors than the '99+ Super Duty trucks, and as such are limited to about 65 HP calibrations. Some trucks, depending on tolerances, may be able to utilize up to 80 HP, but we cannot guarantee that the power gains will be properly reflected. Trucks with modified injectors are not subject to these restrictions.

For maximum fuel economy, you should choose a performance calibration, and most people will use a performance tune as their daily driver.  Our performance tunes provide aggressive fuel curve and timing curve changes to help maximize efficiency and performance -- not just at full-throttle, but throughout the entire throttle and RPM range.
Fuel economy gains rely greatly on driving style.

PHP's tow tunes are written to maximize pulling capability and low to mid RPM torque.  Though many customers see fuel economy gains vs. stock or even canned tunes, these calibrations are not written specifically for fuel economy. $60

To get the most from your programmer (and your money!), we suggest spacing your octane levels by more than one step since the performance difference between adjacent octane levels would be comparatively minimal.  For example, we would recommend choosing the 87 and 91 octane (performance or tow) tunes or 89 and 93 octane tunes opposed to the 87 and 89 or 91 and 93 octane tunes. Of course, your choices should also reflect the fuel quality that is available in your particular area.

We can also tune for Flex-Fuel vehicles that are able to run E85 and just about any modification including Superchargers, Turbochargers, Nitrous, Cams, Intakes, and Exhausts.  Some modifications require that tuning be done on a dyno using wide band O2 sensors in order to prevent engine damage.  Please call for more information.
